Okay, time to start my project after fretting minor errors in my writing.

So Maea, is a moon, roughly the size of Earth. It is a tropical paradise with nearly thrice the biomass of Earth. It orbits a medium sized gas giant, which orbits a K-type star (at a distance of 0.70 AU). There is a single continent straddling its prime meridian, a peninsula (Tankui’edo), and two major archipelagos (Heilo kyiti and Kawaii respectively), surrounding it is one global ocean.

First of all, life here appeared during what is called the Triassic period; rifts (it's unknown whether it's natural or artificial in origin) randomly appeared, sucking anything within a mile radius. Among the first inhabitants were microorganisms, accompanied by algae, fungi, and simple plants. These hardy pioneers were followed by vascular plants and animals.

During the remainder of the Mesozoic (after the rifts closed), the dinosaurs dominated. However, an ice age occurred during the last days of the Mesozoic, killing off many ancient flora, which were replaced by basal angiosperms, and waxy ferns, a clade of ferns which secrete a waxy covering to retain moisture. These new species displaced the remaining ancient flora across the globe, causing ecological turmoil, leaving those resilient enough to survive, this left mammals to inherit Maea, the last of the non-mammal cynodonts went extinct at this time, as the oxygen levels decreased during the ice age (they had a sprawling gait). Fortunately, the climate turned back to normal during the Oligocene.

During the Neogene, ice caps retreated, and the equatorial mountain range began to erode, but perhaps the most important thing was the evolution of Maea’s sophonts. As volant-pterosaur analogs decline due to more tight space in forest habitats, bat-like mammals began to supplant the pterosaur analogs.

So how’s the introduction. I’m kind of still in the developmental part, so any grammar checking would be appreciated. Also the sophonts are based off Japanese, Korean, and American culture, three of my favorite ethnic groups. And the native sophont’s language is based off Korean and Japanese.
